Overview

Our commitment to preserving the spirit of the J. Thibouville-Lamy legacy has seen us embark on a journey of re-creation. Introducing the J. Thibouville-Lamy Sarasate Maître 4/4 Violin: A faithful reissue of timeless master craftsmanship.

Individually handcrafted by master luthiers, with original early 20th-century J. Thibouville-Lamy Sarasate violins by their side, Sarasate instruments use the finest selection of European tonewoods, naturally aged for over six years. The result are violins that offer the tonal maturity, depth, and dynamic response demanded by discerning students, advancing players, and professionals.

The Sarasate Maître features a top carved from select, finely grained European spruce, paired with a two-piece maple back and sides exhibiting a graceful Grade 2 flame. Its distinctive deep red-over-golden varnish gives this instrument a vivid, classic presence - an aesthetic that draws inspiration from historic Mirecourt instruments while remaining beautifully individual. Light antiquing subtly enhances this radiant colour palette.

A hand-applied oil varnish enriches both tone and texture, allowing the wood’s natural beauty to shine through while supporting a resonant, open sound. As a hallmark of authenticity, each violin bears the ‘Sarasate Maître’ heel stamp - applied with precision and pride by our skilled luthiers.

Sound character: A lively, well-balanced tone with excellent clarity and projection.
