Barnes & Mullins Remembers Former Director Peter Emuss
Barnes & Mullins is saddened to announce the passing of former director and shareholder Peter Emuss.
Peter joined the Merchant Navy after leaving school. On leaving the Navy, he pursued his passion for drumming, playing in bands in Germany during the swinging sixties and working for a time as a session drummer. His true musical love was jazz, a passion that stayed with him throughout his life.
He later entered the musical instrument trade as a sales representative for CBS Fender, before joining Barnes & Mullins in the mid-1970s. Peter rose within the company to become a director and shareholder, retiring in 2002 after more than a quarter of a century with the business.
An old-fashioned “gentleman of the road”, Peter was professional and well-liked by his customers. He made an outstanding contribution to Barnes & Mullins during his many years with the company.
Following his retirement, Peter divided his time between the UK and his home in Torrevieja, Spain, spending around half the year in each country. He continued playing in bands in Spain, keeping his love of jazz and performing very much alive.
Our thoughts are very much with his wife Erika, his son James and his grandchildren William and Grace. Peter will be greatly missed by his friends at Barnes & Mullins and the many customers he worked with over the years.
Peter’s funeral will take place on Tuesday 3rd November at 1.15pm at Randalls Park Crematorium & Cemetery, Randalls Road, Leatherhead, Surrey, KT22 0AG.
