Vandoren UK Announces Cathal Killeen as New Vandoren Artist
Cathal Killeen enjoys a varied and distinguished career across Ireland and the UK, having been invited to perform as Guest Principal Clarinet with many of the UK and Ireland’s leading orchestras. These include the Hallé Orchestra, Scottish Chamber Orchestra, Manchester Camerata, BBC Philharmonic, Ulster Orchestra, Royal Philharmonic Concert Orchestra, BBC Scottish Symphony Orchestra, and the Royal Liverpool Philharmonic Orchestra.
Alongside his orchestral work, Cathal is a passionate and committed educator. He has held teaching positions in both Ireland and Scotland and currently serves on the faculty at Cheshire School of Music, where he works closely with the next generation of young musicians.
Cathal’s achievements have been recognised with several prestigious awards, including the Dunbar Gerber Award for Chamber Music and the Jury Prize at the Irish Freemasons’ Young Musician of the Year competition. His playing can be heard on Linn Records, CMG Records, BBC Radio 3, and RTÉ Lyric FM.
An active chamber musician, Cathal has appeared at major festivals including the Edinburgh International Festival, West Wicklow Festival, Tunbridge Wells International Music Festival, the Edinburgh Fringe, Sounds Festival, and Madrid a Tempo. He performs regularly in a variety of settings, including with chamber ensembles such as Buccleuch Duo and Triskelion.
